Institute Of Solid State Physics (Bulgaria)
Institute of Solid State Physics is one of the physical institutes at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, currently known as the Georgi Nadjakov Institute of Solid State Physics. It provides scientific background of solid state electronics and optics in Bulgaria. Some reports and discussions are referred to below. History Decree No 362 of 16 October 1972 by the Ministry Council of Bulgaria established the Institute of Solid State Physics as a successor of the Institute of Physics with Atomic Scientific Experimental Base at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, founded by Georgi Nadjakov in 1946. Since 16 February 1982 the Institute of Solid State Physics accepted the name "Georgi Nadjakov Institute of Solid State Physics". The Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP, ) is one of over a dozen divisions comprising the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) situated in Hefei, Anhui. The ISSP was founded in March 1982 by the renowned scientist couple Ke T'ing-sui and He Yizhen; it now employs over 200 staff members, has combined facilities of over 25,000 square meters of laboratory space, and is a training base to over 200 graduate students in the fields of condensed matter physics, materials physics and chemistry. The Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP; russian: Институт физики твердого тела) of the Russian Academy of Sciences is a research institution, located in the small town of Chernogolovka near Moscow in Russia. Founded on February 15, 1963, the institute has grown to become one of the largest physics institutes in the country. Its main fields of research are condensed matter physics and materials science. About the institute The Institute of Solid State Physics was established on February 15, 1963 by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (now the Russian Academy of Sciences). The main organizers of the institute were Georgii Kurdyumov, Yuri Osipyan, and Cheslav Kopetsky. Osipyan was the director of the institute from 1963 to 2001.
